The Notre Dame football team has officially started going hard after the 2027 class with the commitments of Ellis McGaskin and Teddy Jarrard. Now they're looking for the next commitment and are hoping that 4-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant might be that guy.

Guerrant is considered the No. 1 player in Michigan, the No. 8 wide receiver and the No. 50 player overrall according to 247Sports. The Harper Woods, Michigan player has all kinds of power programs coming after him but Notre Dame might be standing out because head coach Marcus Freeman is going out of his way to reach out to the young player.

Dakota Guerrant likes hearing from Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman

I don't really hear from too many of the other coaches, but hearing it from Coach Freeman, if I'm going to hear from anybody, that's the best person to hear from for sure,” the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder told Irish Sports Daily about how Notre Dame football has reached out to him.

Guerrant said that the Irish have been talking to him about playing either wide receiver or defensive back. The prospect wants to play college footbal on offense but he's had conversations with defensive backs coach Mike Mickens.

“I have an offer at both,” he said. “I talk to Coach (Mike) Mickens sometimes too.”

Guerrant is starting to lay out his plans to narrow down who his school might be. He's got an idea of where he wants to visit in addition to the Notre Dame football team. “Probably Clemson, probably Missouri, Texas A&M, that's probably it,”
