The last few weeks, we’ve spent a lot of time talking about how the media hasn’t been very kind to the Notre Dame football team. Despite rattling off one win after another, including wins against teams like Texas A&M and Louisville, the Irish haven’t been getting a lot of love.

It seems as if Marcus Freeman’s squad might finally be changing the narrative. There were the four spot jumps in the polls, which happened to be tied for the biggest move up the polls of the week. And now there’s ESPN’s latest power rankings.

It appears the win over Navy finally moved the needle. ESPN’s power ranking are actually showing the Notre Dame football higher than the polls. In its latest update to their Football Power Rankings, the Irish came in as ESPN’s No. 5 overall team, up two spots from last week.

Notre Dame football gets high marks in ESPN power rankings

The Irish find themselves behind Texas, Ohio State, Alabama, and Georgia, as they have the top percentage of the top-5 to win its remaining games with 49.4 percent.

Unfortunately, ND has the second-lowest mark at making the college football playoffs, with 59.6 percent. It’s hard to know exactly where that number is pulled from. especially when you consider that with ESPN’s own tool, if the Irish win out, they almost certainly make the postseason.

So does the site believe the Notre Dame football team is going to lose one of its final four contests? Against Virginia, Florida State, Army and USC? Hardly a murderer’s row there.
