Former Notre Dame football player Deion Colzie was never able to amke the kind of impact for the Fighting Irish that he likely wished he could. Now he’ll get a chance to start over, for at least one season and try and make that impact for another team.
Colzie entered the portal just after the Irish played in the National Title Game. Earlier this week, he announced he’d found his new home. Interestingly enough, he’s landing with a team that he went up against this past season. The Irish beat the Redhawks 28-3 last fall.
The former Notre Dame football receiver is officially a member of Miami. Now in the MAC, it’s possible he could see some real increase in his numbers as it stands to reason he’ll be one of the Redhawks top targets in 2025.

Colzie, a grad transfer, amassed just 23 catches over four seasons in South Bend.
Colzie was one of two Notre Dame wide receivers to enter the transfer portal following the 2024 season. Jayden Thomas also made his intentions known last Wednesday before committing to Virginia on Monday.
The RedHawks have become a popular destination for former Fighting Irish pass-catchers. Two years ago, Joe Wilkins Jr. opted to transfer to Miami (Ohio). Former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chuck Martin has been the school’s head coach since 2014. Martin was in South Bend from 2010-13.
Now Deion Colzie might be finding some kindred spirits as he moves from the Notre Dame football program to Miami and the MAC.
