There is no doubt that Hannah Hidalgo is the best player to come through the Notre Dame women's basketball program. The star junior has never scored less than double-digit points in any game throughout her three years in college basketball and continues to collect accolades throughout her career.

Hidalgo leads Notre Dame basketball in total steals, and her eyes are now on that scoring title with the Irish. With the regular season now in the books and the ACC Tournament beginning, the conference has released its season awards, and Notre Dame really collected, especially Hidalgo.

The Notre Dame star won both the ACC Player of the Year award and the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award, receiving both honors for the second year in a row. Hidalgo also led in votes for the All-ACC First Team with 1,147, as well as the All-Defensive Team with 326.

Head coach Niele Ivey brought the team in at the end of practice before the tournament began and talked with the girls about what lies ahead. Ivey then went on to announce Hidalgo's awards, as well as Cassandre Prosper winning ACC Most Improved Player, and being an All-ACC Second Team selection.

Both players were visibly emotional and Hidalgo couldn't hold back her tears.

Hidalgo winning both awards two years in a row means she has done something that has never been done in the ACC before, on both the men's and women's side of the game.

Hidalgo continues to prove she is a special player as she is averaging 25 points a game as well as five steals, showing she can get it done on both sides of the ball. Notre Dame has a chance to make a real run in the ACC Tournament, as well as the NCAA Tournament.

This is great momentum for the Irish, and they plan to ride it as far as they can, and hopefully, it means a ring and a trophy for Notre Dame.
