Jeremiyah Love, coming out of high school, was a highly-rated four-star recruit who received offers from many different schools. The Missouri native ended up picking Notre Dame over the other big programs like Alabama, Michigan, and Texas A&M.
According to Love's father, the star running back was given some high offers from other schools, as high as seven figures, but he turned down all that money to go to Notre Dame, where he knew he was going to be a backup. At those other schools, Love is probably the starter at the running back position, but his reasoning for picking Notre Dame is something Irish fans will love.
Love told his father when he was picking Notre Dame, even though he would have gotten more money elsewhere, he had always been told to earn it the hard way. So, Love choosing the Irish meant he was going to have to sit and be the backup until he earned the starting position.
Jeremiyah Loves dad tells @BoBrack that when he chose to go to Notre Dame and be back up he turned down 7 figures from other teams.

Who would have given him the starting position

Love did just that at Notre Dame, and it worked out in his favor. Having to take the tougher road is what led him to be the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft, taken by the Arizona Cardinals. It also got him to be one of two running backs taken in the first round from the same school for the first time in NFL Draft history.
That hard road is also what helped Love refine his talent, a talent that got him to be the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft, which earned him the largest contract with guaranteed money for a running back in NFL history.
Jeremiyah Love beginning in Arizona will be very different than at Notre Dame
When Love began at Notre Dame, he sat behind the starters and had the chance to learn adn grow in his own timing. His beginning at Arizona will most likely be the complete opposite of Notre Dame. Love is going to be the bona fide starter for the Cardinals once he steps onto the field.
Arizona wasn't going to spend that high of a draft pick on a guy they don't plan to start right away. The Cardinals want a spark on the offensive side of the ball, and Love will provide just that.
