Jeremiyah Love thinks a Heisman trophy could be in his Notre Dame football future
Before the Notre Dame football season started, Marcus Freeman and company were hoping either Jeremiyah Love or Jadarian Price could find a way to really break out in the absence of Audric Estime. As it turns out, both players have put together very good seasons, even while neither one really steps to the forefront.
Count Jeremiyah Love among those who think that while he’s having a solid 2024, he hasn’t really scratched the surface. And if he’s allowed to really show what he can do, then there’s a possibility he could eventually look like one of the best players in all of college football.
Love is currently the Notre Dame football team’s leading rusher with 564 yards and 9 touchdowns. That production might be even better if he wasn’t sharing some carries with Price who has 348 of his own yards. Both backs have TD runs of more than 60 yards.
Jeremiah Love thinks he can still break out in Notre Dame football career
Speaking about how much better he thinks he can be to Sirius XM’s Zach Gelb, the sophomore made it clear that 2025 could be special.
“I feel like I've been doing pretty good this season. I don't really think, you know, like too high of myself. I mean, like I'm doing pretty good, you know, scoring touchdowns, doing what I'm supposed to do, doing anything to help the team win. And I feel like, you know, I'm establishing myself as like one of the best running backs in the country, possibly one of the best players in the country.”
Love went on to say that if he can come in and really hit everything right from the get go, he can be among the best and maybe win the biggest award.
“If everything's hitting right, I would say I'm easily a Heisman candidate. I mean, I've got, I feel like I’ve got everything it takes to be recognized as, one of the best players, if not the best player in college football.”
The Notre Dame football star also said that he thinks more people will say that moving forward.
“As time goes on, I'm going to take advantage of those opportunities and I'm going to prove to people who I am.”
