Notre Dame football: Pair of former blue-chippers expected to finally break out
There’s a ton to be excited about when it comes to the upcoming Notre Dame football season. There’s guys like Beaux Collins and Kris Mitchell and Riley Leonard. There’s Howard Cross III and Xavier Watts.
And then there’s quite a few question marks. What if a few of those question marks actually start answering questions? What if players that so far, haven’t lived up the hype, starting living up to the hype?
There are two specific Notre Dame football players that some analysts believe could eventually live up to their former blue-chip hype. And should they actually do that, the Irish will be even harder for opponents to handle than they’re already expected to be.
Notre Dame football: Pair of former blue-chippers expected to break out
Running back Jeremiyah Love and offensive tackle Charles Jagusah are two players that have largely fallen under the radar in South Bend. However, 247Sports analysts believe that will no longer be the case.
Of Love, the analysts sang his praises as someone who could break out really soon.
"It is so easy to love this kid. Competed all 13 games last season. He started in the Sun Bowl against Oregon State and was second on the team with 385 rushing yards. Averaged 5.4 yards per carry. So we have seen a good bit of Jeremiyah Love and the production that he can bring to the table for the Fighting Irish. … I love his ability as a receiver, as well. 147 snaps last season. I think it's safe to say that he made the most of those."
For Jagusah, it might take a position switch to unlock his potential.
“He reminds me so much of Andrus Peat, who's played seven seasons in the NFL and a former All-American offensive lineman with the Stanford Cardinal — a guy that played a lot of tackle and eventually moved inside to guard."
The good news is that it’s almost time to see just what these Notre Dame football players can do in 2024. Perhaps they finally do break out.
