Jordan Faison has officially joined the Notre Dame Fighting Irish lacrosse team. And he’s done it earlier than his coach said they were originally planning.

The timing was perfect on Sunday, as Faison’s return was a big help as the defending National Champion tries to keep rolling in the 2025 season. Faison’s squad had a tougher fight than they might have expected against the Georgetown Hoyas, finally winning 11-9.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish fight off Georgetown

Jordan Faison is clearly still trying to find his footing, but he did have a big goal for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish that pushed the lead up to three goals early in the game. His goal was of course, the first of the season and gave his squad a 9-6 lead.

They would score two more goals the rest of the game, while the Hoyas made a little run and pushed the Blue and Gold as much as any opponent they’ve faced in this early season.

Jordan Faison adds a boost for Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The match was back and forth for most of the day, with Notre Dame jumping out to a 6-0 lead before Georgetown roared back to tie it at 6. Then the Irish ripped off four in a row, including Faison's, before Georgetown got three more to narrow it to 10-9. But a Chris Kavanagh goal (his third of the day) provided the necessary insurance.

The win allowed the Irish to improve to 3-0 on the season. However, the top ranked team hadn’t scored less than 20 points since the season started before taking on No. 11 Georgetown.

Originally, the plan was for Jordan Faison to sit out the game against Georgetown before returning for the contest against Maryland on March 1. However, his return to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish came early and was clearly a boost for the lacrosse squad.
