The Notre Dame quarterback battle is still going strong in South Bend, and Kenny Minchey is happy to be in the middle of it. The young freshman quarterback said in recent weeks that he believes he is still very much in the battle and that he deserves to be the starter.
When asked during media availability about feeling the pressure in this quarterback battle, Micnehy didn't even bat an eye at the question.
"This is what I asked for," Minchey said. "I can't get mad about what's on my plate."
Minchey and CJ Carr are both working as hard as they can in order to win the starting position, but it doesn't seem like head coach Marcus Freeman is ready to name who the starter will be. With the season just a few weeks away, this battle is going to have to come to a close at some point, but Freeman has left it open that both quarterbacks could play in games.
Kenny Minchey doesn't feel any added pressure being in a QB battle that has national attention.

Minchey is coming in as a freshman with no prior experience at the college level. Last season, Carr did see action in one game against Purdue, but not again after that. Both quarterbacks really are on a level playing field, but Freeman can only pick one guy to play the first snap against the Miami Hurricanes.
With the idea of a two-quarterback system on the table, this battle could really only be about that first snap. Both guys have talented arms and a good rushing ability, but ultimately, it comes down to who will be able to run the offense more efficiently.
Minchey has said it before, he believes he is ready fr this. He said during media availability that he has been preparing for this his entire life, so there is no question about his mindset throughout this process. Notre Dame could be in a worse position than picking between two very skilled quarterbacks, and Freeman certainly has his work cut out for him.
