Lincoln Riley might not make it to the Notre Dame football game
The Notre Dame football team looks well set to make the College Football Playoffs later this year. Of course, to do that, they’re going to need to take care of business.
That business includes beating USC. And the bigger the win in that game the better, considering it’s the last chance for the Irish to show what they can do.
It now seems like there is a better than zero percent chance that Lincoln Riley won't be standing on the opposite sidelines when the two old rivals face off against each other. Marcus Freeman and the rest of the Notre Dame football could have a new coach for the Trojans.

Sitting at 4-5 on the season is bad enough. But Riley’s response to their latest loss, to the Washington Huskies was one that many people weren’t thrilled about. Even if his full quote makes some sense. In this business, he started off with a comment that doesn’t look great.
“It’s not like we’re getting our a– kicked. It’s not like I go back to the drawing board like gah, we’re doing this terrible, and people are wearing us out on this or that. It’s not that,” the USC head man explained.
Trojans fans are not going to like the downplaying of the losses. Nor is a former Trojan star. Former USC running back LenDale White hasn’t been quiet about how much he dislikes the job the current head coach is doing.
“Mfs don’t care bc they getting paid regardless,” White wrote on Twitter. “We owe a coach 100ms this mfs can only say we are one play away. Man f— all that shit. Glorified qb coach I see why u ran from ou”
That wasn’t his final thoughts on things either.
“People texting me talking bout chill,” he wrote later talking about people wanting him to lay off Riley. “Man f— that s—.”
Riley and his squad have a bye this week. Then it’s a game they should win at home, against a Nebraska football team that has its own struggles, especially on offense. It’s unlikely he’ll get first this season, but if he loses to the Huskers, he may not make it to the Notre Dame football game.
