Over the last few years, Marcus Freeman has been the subject of plenty of rumors about him moving on from Notre Dame; however, the latest rumor is just goofy enough that it's hard not to point and laugh.

Freeman is in the middle of another march to the College Football Playoffs after a rough start to the 2025 campaign. Meanwhile, North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick is in the middle of the march to the unemployment line.

Notre Dame football fans should mock wild Marcus Freeman–North Carolina coaching rumor

While the Tarheels came out and offered up their full support for Belichick, no one really believes he'll be coaching beyond the 2025 season. And when he is eventually shown the door, some North Carolina fans are already dreaming of Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman as his replacement.

It's never a great move to listen to random fans on the internet, especially on message boards, where they can hide their identity. But it's still funny when someone thinks that Freeman will leave the Fighting Irish for a rebuild job at UNC.

The Twitter account Message Board Geniuses was the one that found this post. The user at least knows that North Carolina would have to pay Freeman a ton of money in order to lure him anywhere.

However, there's zero chance that the Notre Dame football head coach would leave South Bend, of his own accord, and head to the ACC rival school. He might leave the Irish at some point. There's always a worry he'll go to Ohio State if Ryan Day ever moves on. He could also go to the NFL. But he's not going to Chapel Hill.
