Notre Dame football’s season is about to be over. Win or lose, Monday is the last game of the season, and then it’s officially time to focus on the 2025 season.
Part of that focus is going to involve worrying about whether or not the entire Irish staff is coming back for another run at it. It seems like defensive coordinator Al Golden might have a foot out the door. He’s talking like a man that is going to listen when and if teams come calling after the championship game.
On the flip side is Marcus Freeman. Freeman is a hot commodity with the NFL right now. Specifically the Chicago Bears. However, he’s made it clear since those reports first came out, that he’s really not all that interested. He made it clear again on Saturday when he was asked by Heather Dinich about his interest in the Bears.
Notre Dame football’s head coach isn’t going anywhere
“I asked Freeman specifically about his interest in the Bears and he said, ‘to hear that the Bears have interest, it’s humbling. It’s the NFL. But it’s also a reminder that with team success comes individual success. I have put zero thought into coaching in the NFL.’”
Other coaches have said that sort of thing and then taken a new job the next day. But Freeman is different. He’s someone who seems to absolutely love coaching in South Bend.
He seems to love the culture of Notre Dame football and what he’s building. And Marcus Freeman isn’t going anywhere.
