The Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team continues to look like a squad that could make some real noise in the postseason, if it manages to get there. That is of course is still up the air, but they took a step in that direction this weekend by winning the series against N. 17 Louisville.
While the Blue and Gold lost the first game of the series on Thursday, they managed to crush the Cards 10-3 and then beat them on Saturday 7-4. What’s even more impressive is that Notre Dame was just a one-run loss away from sweeping the nationally ranked team.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have now won 10 of its last 12 and have gone 8-1 in their last 9 ACC contests. Sitting at 26-19 overall and 12-15 in the conference and No. 48 in the RPI, Shawn Stiffler’s squad is a real contender for an at-large bid, which is shocking considering where they were at the end of March.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish lacrosse on the edge
While things are going very, very well for the Notre Dame baseball team, the lacrosse squad continues to be very up and down. On Friday, the Irish lost to Syracuse in the ACC Conference Semifinals.
That means they’ll now have to sit and wait until Sunday night to see if they get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The team took a step back after back-to-back national titles, going just 8-4 so far this year.
Recruiting wins continue
Marcus Freeman has been on one heck of a roll since the middle of April. That roll got even more impressive this weekend as the Notre Dame football team nabbed a 4-star linebacker on Friday morning and a 4-star running back on Saturday evening.
Jakobe Clapper announced that he was joining the Fighting Irish 2026 recruiting class. Then, if that recruiting win wasn’t good enough, they got running back Javian Osborne to commit and pick the Golden Domers over Michigan. It was a big recruiting win all on its own, but to get one over a bitter rival is even better.
Still after Messiah Mickens
If the recruiting wins weren’t good enough the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are looking to steal a commit away from Penn State. Runningback coach Ja’Juan Seider paid an in-home visit to Mickens. While the running back is still a commit to the Nittany Lions, it feels like there’s still an opening.
