The Notre Dame football team is one an absolutely ridiculous run at the moment. And that run now contains getting one of the best running backs in the 2026 class. And if that wasn’t good enough, when the Irish scored Javian Osborne they managed to pull him in over the Michigan Wolverines.

Osborne is now the sixth commitment the Fighting Irish have secured since April 10 and is also just the second commit in as many days. His commitment announcement has been known for a while and Marcus Freeman’s crew has been known as the favorite for a few weeks.

Notre Dame stays hot and lands elite RB Javian Osborne over Michigan

On Friday, linebacker Jakobe Clapper pulled the trigger in what was mostly an out of the blue announcement, at least when it comes to the timing.

Osborne’s announcement came via live stream on with 247Sports and it should come as no surprise that when he talked about things that made him commit to the Irish, there were several things that stood out to him, but the ability to get a top notch education was right near the top of the list.

He added that he’s actually been a commit for a few weeks now as he gave his pledge to running backs coach Ja’Jaun Seider and the staff when he was in South Bend for the Blue and Gold game. Now he’s able to finally make it public.

That it means Michigan loses out in the recruiting battle is just icing on the cake.

Whether they’ve seen it coming or not, the Notre Dame football team now has 14 commitments with the last few being among the best players in the country. One has to wonder if anyone can slow the Irish down now that Javian Osborne is the latest to join the class. And his message to the faithful after he announced where he was headed was that he’s going to help Marcus Freeman and his staff bring him a National Championship.
