The Notre Dame basketball team has suffered some big losses to its roster since the Transfer Portal opened last week. Now Micah Shrewsberry has his first addition. Logan Duncomb is a big pickup for the Irish, both figuratively and literally. It also could be a sign that Shrewsberry’s plan of attack is changing and evolving for the 2026-2027 season.

Duncomb announced he’d joined the Irish on Tuesday morning. Considering that the former Winthrop Center was the Big South player of the year, it’s a massive get for Shrewsberry, who might run the offense through the lane, rather than the perimeter-centric attack he had with Markus Burton, Cole Certa, and Jalen Haralson.

ESPN’s Jeff Borzello was the first to report Duncomb’s commitment, and multiple sources confirmed it to Rivals. Duncomb, a Cincinnati native who will be a sixth-year player for the Irish, averaged 18.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game for the Eagles last season. He is the No. 145 player in the transfer portal, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, and the No. 14 center. On EvanMiya CBB Analytics, he’s the No. 119 player and No. 13 center available.

In his Player of the Year campaign, Duncomb led the Big South in field-goal percentage, free throws made, and free-throw attempts. He ranked second in double-doubles, with 12. He averaged 18.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

The only thing more impressive than his numbers this past season was that they came out of nowhere. Last year, he played in 24 games but wasn’t a starter, averaging just over 3 points per game.

Before going to Winthrop, he played two seasons with Indiana, appearing in just 9 games each season. Now the Cincinnati native is back in the Hoosier state and should be an impact player on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor for Notre Dame.
