While there has been plenty of praise heaped on Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr this season, he's still a freshman. He's made some mistakes this year, and he's going to make some more. But there's one bad habit, a pattern when he throws interceptions, that has started to show up that needs to be fixed right quick.

The good news here is that the Irish have time to fix the habit. They have time to work with him and get the situation worked out before he retakes the field. The bad news is that if they can't get him to understand how the habit arose and how to tamp it down, it could be a very big problem as Marcus Freeman and Co. try to march toward the playoffs.

Notre Dame beat writer Talia Baia captured exactly why CJ Carr's new habit needs to be stamped out quickly. The quarterback has thrown just 4 interceptions this season. However, he's also thrown a pick in back-to-back games, and those interceptions have been on near-identical plays.

Notre Dame QB CJ Carr must break new interception habit before it grows costly

Carr has seemingly gotten in the habit of rolling out around the end zone and trying far too hard to make a play. Both times he's rolled out and thrown a bad pass (thought his interception against USC was especially bad) and has ended Irish drives that should at least produce three points with no points at all.

The good news is that Notre Dame has managed to win both games where this new habit has sparked up. However, no guarantee that it will continue. Carr needs to right the ship and break the streak when they take on Boston College.
