There was a time when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team looked totally dead in the water. There was talk that Shawn Stiffler was on his way out the door.

And then, the baseball team reeled off eight straight victories. In fact, with the 6-5 win over Cal on Sunday, Stiffler’s squad has now swept two straight ACC series. It’s the kind of run at the end of the regular season that likely won’t get them much higher in the standings but will give them a boost of confidence as they head to the ACC tournament.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish now sit at 24-17 on the season and 10-14 in the ACC. They’ve got three more weekends in the season, including a non-conference series against Bowling Green, and it suddenly feels like this is a team that could make some noise.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish lacrosse readies for another run

The Blue and Gold lacrosse squad hasn’t been quite as dominant this year as the last two, but after rallying for a win over Penn this weekend, they are set to show the toughness that could lead to a third straight national title.

Notre Dame was down 6-1 to start their Saturday match against the Quakers but they eventually won the match 10-8 and finished the regular season 8-3. This week, they prepare for the ACC championships as the No. 1 seed, opening the tournament versus Syracuse on Friday.

Audric Estime in trouble

Former Notre Dame running back Audric Estime entered the offseason thinking of himself as the odds-on favorite to be the starting running back this season for the Denver Broncos. However, after the Broncos drafted former UCF back RJ Harvey, it’s possible that he’s got a problem brewing on his hands.

Jimmy Clausen catches strays

The Fighting Irish caught some strays over the NFL Draft weekend when ESPN analyst Mel Kiper kept complaining about Shedeur Sanders not getting selected. As he talked about how he knew better about evaluating quarterbacks, social media continuously pointed out how wrong he was in regards to former ND quarterback Clausen.

Considering the former gunslinger didn’t enter this discussion on purpose, he was probably wonder why he had to get dragged into this sort of thing.

Bengals reunion

Former Notre Dame Fighting Irish defensive lineman Howard Cross III didn’t get drafted but he will get a shot at playing in the NFL. And he’ll be able to play with his old defensive coordinator in Al Golden, as he’s signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an UDFA.
