The Notre Dame Fighing Irish are setting up to have a very good March. At least the women’s basketball side is setting up for a fun Big Dance.
On Sunday morning, the Top 16 was revealed for women’s basketball one day after the Top 16 for the men’s side was shown off. While not a shock that the Fighting Irish are one of the best teams in the country, this new early bracket reveal hammers that home in a really impressive way. It also shows that Notre Dame fans can get ready for the team to be well positioned for a run at the Final Four.
According to the new Top 16 reveal, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish women are the No. 4 team in the country. That makes them a No. 1 seed in the tournament. Interestingly enough, the reveal also shows that UCLA is keeping the top seed, despite losing to rival USC earlier this week.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s basketball set for deep NCAA Tournament run
The other No.1 seeds are not all that surprising outside of UCLA somehow staying at the very top. UCLA, South Carolina and Texas are the other No. 1 seeds.
USC, LSU, UCONN and NC States are the schools that would be the tournament’s No. 2 seeds if the Big Dance started today.
TCU, Duke, North Carolina and Kansas State are the Top 16’s No. 3 seeds and Kentucky, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Tennessee round out the Top 16 as the field’s No 4 seeds at the moment.
Of course, all of this can change with a few weeks left in the regular season. It’s possible for instance, that a Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s basketball team that hasn’t lost since November 30 could move up a little more.
