The Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team knows that every win counts as it approaches the end of the regular season. After looking dead in the water for most of the first half of the season, it’s seemed as hot as any team in the sport.

The hot streak ended on Friday afternoon when the Irish got spanked in a way they haven’t for a while. Following a win in the first game, 3-2, the Irish lost Friday’s game by a 15-1 margin. As far as what it means for their immediate future, the answer is “not much.”

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are headed to the ACC Tournament after this weekend. The question is whether they’ve gone far enough and will continue to do enough in the tourney to make the regionals.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish commit knew he was coming to South Bend

One of the most impressive things about how Marcus Freeman has been rolling on the recruiting front is that the players he’s gotten aren’t just excited about playing for the Blue and Gold; they seem genuinely in love with the program.

That will be big as the year progresses, and Freeman and his coaches look to keep the commitments in the fold. Tiki Hola is one such commit who recently said he knew he was committed to Notre Dame before anyone else did.

Marcus Freeman is closing in on another commit

Speaking of the job Freeman is doing on the recruiting front, it seems likely that he’s about to pull in another commit. Brayden Robinson previously canceled a visit to Ohio State. He’s not slated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish into that spot on his calendar. That would seem to scream that the Irish are about to get the 4-star wide receiver into the fold.
