Notre Dame Fighting Irish news: Freeman snubbed, USC heat, recruit won’t budge, more

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team did something the program hasn’t done in quite a while when Marcus Freeman took his squad to the National Championship game. The road to that tilt against Ohio State involved wins over upstart Indiana, as well as traditional powers Georgia and Penn State.

Despite that path being quite tricky, it appears that some people aren’t convinced Freeman is among the best coaches in the country. That certainly surprises fans. It should especially surprise them that Freeman is still not getting the love he should in coaching rankings.

When Tom Fornelli released his recent coaching power rankings, he placed Freeman at No. 6. That seems odd considering he showed that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish coach is easily one of the best in the country. You can check out the full rankings here.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish series vs USC still getting a ton of attention

There’s been a lot of talk about the idea that the Notre Dame football team might see its series end against USC. The good news is that almost everyone blames the Trojans over the Fighting Irish.

The blame reappeared earlier this week when USC members talked about how unhappy they were with the school. Some Trojans Boosters even talked about possibly pulling their endowments if this series doesn’t get saved. Is it possible that this could be the move that keeps it alive?

Irish commit doubles down

Thomas Davis Jr. continues to have to tell people that he will indeed sign with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish when all the smoke clears. There has been a question about that since his father played at Georgia.

He’d previously said he was locked in with the Blue and Gold, and earlier this week, he said that again. The good news is that the more times he has to say this, the more convincing it is that he will indeed turn his back on Georgia when it counts most.

ACC Baseball tournament features powerhouses

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were eliminated from the ACC baseball tournament in the first round, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t all kinds of reasons to keep watching. On Saturday, the conference semifinals will get underway. No. 1 Georgia Tech will take on No. 5 Clemson, while No. 2 Florida State takes on No. 3 North Carolina, demonstrating that, for the most part, the top teams in the conference are indeed the top teams in the conference.
