The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team continues to have some problems finding its groove. On Wednesday night, Micah Shrewsberry's squad played decently against the No. 24 Louisville Cardinals. However, in the end, they couldn't hang with the ranked ACC rival.

Louisville's Ryan Conwell scored 12 points, including seven during a 15-1 second-half surge that put Notre Dame away, and Khani Rooths added 12 off the bench in the Cardinals' 76-65 win.

Cole Certa led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish with 18 points, but Shrewsberry's squad is officially under .500 at 11-12 on the season. They're now dead last in the conference and just 2-8 in the ACC. They'll next face off against Florida State on Saturday, and the good news here is that the Seminoles aren't much better.

CBS's way-too-early CFP prediction has Notre Dame No. 2 behind Miami

With 2026 officially underway, analysts are starting to release their predictions for this fall. CBS certainly believes Notre Dame will be excellent. They're predicted to be No. 2 in the country, right behind the Miami Hurricanes. That will at least give Irish fans another reason to get very excited for the November matchup in South Bend.

David Pollack is a big fan of Marcus Freeman

Speaking of analysts talking about what they expect to see in 2026, count David Pollack among those who are big believers in ND's head coach, during a recent podcast appearance. "That is Marcus Freeman's personality, that is who he is, that is his swag, and that is his freaking coaching," Pollack said. "When you watch this dude, he has evolved. He understands who he is."

  • The Irish are working quickly on putting together their 2027 class. That includes getting into the fight for a top tight end prospect, Cooper Terwilliger. While the player is currently a Nebraska lean, there's a long way until signing day.
  • Speaking of recruiting, Marcus Freeman and his staff are moving on to Ohio linebacker Brayton Feister. Feister seems to like what he's seen and heard from Freeman's crew. "I was very grateful," Feister told Irish Sports Daily about getting an ND offer. "I thought Coach was coming on Friday and not today, so that's a little surprising. I kind of already knew what was coming, just based on the previous kind of conversations we had and the relationship with Coach Washington. It means a lot. This is an opportunity to chase my dream."
  • Well-known Notre Dame Fighting Irish villain Lincoln Riley is taking some severe heat after talking about the "level playing field" that NIL has brought. He took a shot at the SEC, talking about how they can't pay players under the table anymore, ignoring that his own school has been caught paying players under the table.
