The Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team is finally playing as it did at the start of the season. The question now is whether their second straight win over the Stanford Cardinal is the beginning of a real run, or just wins over mediocre teams.
The Irish came from behind against Stanford on Friday night and won 6-2. Then on Saturday afternoon, they rallied once again and won 10-7. The back-to-back victories were the first in quite a while in the ACC. They were also the fourth straight overall.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team is solidly back over .500 on the season for the first time in weeks. On Sunday, Shawn Stiffler's squad will attempt to sweep the Cardinal and really make a move in the ACC standings.
Joey O'Brien scares Notre Dame Fighting Irish faithful
Freshman defensive back Joey O'Brien was injured in the Blue-Gold game, and since that injury, there hasn't been much detail on just what the issue was. However, on Friday morning, O'Brien shared a photo on social media of himself in the hospital. That scared plenty of fans, who were already worried it was a season-ending injury.
However, later on Friday, reports surfaced first from On3's Pete Nakos that while O'Brien did have surgery, it was relatively minor and he'll be ready for the start of fall practices. While the Irish are remaining mum, it appears the scare about the freshman being out long-term was misplaced.
