It feels like the talk about the possibility of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish-USC Trojans annual rivalry isn’t going awya anytime soon. It also feels as if the way that the Big Ten school’s head coach handled the situation this week is only going to make people talk about it more.
Lincoln Riley was asked just about a week after Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman was about the series and his response was far less forthcoming. Rather than talking about how important the series was, or even telling people that he doesn’t find the series all that important at all, he refused to comment at all.
Instead, when asked point blank about whether he wanted to keep the Notre Dame Fighting Irish series going, he essentially said he wasn’t going to talk about it right now. Aske to comment he said, “We will at the appropriate time."
Notre Dame Fighting Irish looking like a front runner for Efrem White
On the recruiting front, the Notre Dame football team has been on an incredible roll. That roll doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Instead, it while there’s been a bit of a pause in commits, that might not hold all that long.
White went on a multi-day visit to Notre Dame during this past week, and after working out with the coaches, it seems he liked what he saw. White created a solid bond with the coaching staff over the week after the Fighting Irish made an offer to the top-ranked wide receiver about two weeks ago.
Notre Dame needs to settle on a QB
It’s not going to happen anytime soon, but it’s pretty clear that national analysts believe that the quarterback battle cannot last all camp. CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford also believes it would be a mistake for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to really entertain the idea of using two quarterbacks. Instead, the team has to settle on “the guy” between CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey and go from there. Otherwise, the position will be a weak spot in the 2025 season.
