Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s basketball unveiled its full 2026-27 schedule late last week as the fourth season under Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry draws nearer.
- Notre Dame and Villanova will tip off the entire NCAA men’s college basketball season in Rome on November 1, airing live on FOX at 9:30 a.m. ET. It will mark the first regular-season game outside the United States in program history and is believed to be the first game outside the United States to start a men’s college basketball season.
- The Irish will play a record nine straight home games, stretching from November 24 through January 6. That stretch includes the first two ACC matchups against Stanford and Virginia Tech.

- It's possible that safety Luke Talich won't be able to play for Notre Dame on Saturday against the Purdue Boilermakers. Talich injured his hand in the 27-10 win over Michigan State. Head coach Marcus Freeman said they would know more later on Monday, but nothing was announced.
- The Notre Dame Fighting Irish released their depth chart for their Week 4 matchup, and while there weren't many surprises, there was one notable change. Aneyas Williams and Nolan James Jr. are now listed as "or," with James first on the depth chart at running back. That follows the game against Michigan State, where James had all but all 19 rush attempts in the second half.
- Williams seemed to be benched for most of the second half. Whether that was due to his first-half excessive celebration penalty is unknown. However, head coach Marcus Freeman said on Monday that he apologized to the running back for how he responded to the penalty. The camera caught Freeman growing quite angry about the penalty and speaking rather heatedly to Williams. On Monday, Freeman said that sort of thing shouldn't be out there for the public to see and should be handled in-house, away from cameras.
- For the fourth straight week, Notre Dame opened preparations for its next game as heavy favorites. On Monday morning, the Irish were rated as 27.5-point favorites over the Purdue Boilermakers.
- Notre Dame has to find another opponent in their 2027 schedule as Georgia Tech has announced they've backed out of the game now that the ACC has 9 conference opponents. The Irish will almost certainly need to find a Power 4 opponent.
- When the Notre Dame Fighting Irish face off against Miami on November 7, the Hurricanes could be missing several key players. On Monday, head coach Mario Cristobal announced that backup running back CharMar Brown and wide receiver Josh Moore are both out for the season. Cristobal also said that linebacker Ezekiel Marcelin will be out “for a few weeks.” Whether that means he'll be back for the Irish is anyone's guess.
