Jeremiyah Love didn't win the Heisman trophy in 2025. While there's some groundswell to try and get him to come back for another try, there's already another Notre Dame Fighting Irish player who is getting buzz for the trophy in 2026.
CJ Carr is one of the early darkhorse candidates for the Heisman trophy next year. That shouldn't be surprising considering he threw for 2,741 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions in his freshman season. He also led the Irish to 10 straight wins after a 0-2 start.
It will undoubtedly be interesting to see what happens in his sophomore season and whether a team that will be looking to replace Jeremiyah Love and possibly Jadarian Price might pass more. The Mike Denbrock offense is certainly one that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have already shown can be a "best for all seasons" kind of attack.
KK Bransford won't miss the entire season
When women's basketball star KK Bransford went down with an injury last week, there was some concern that she might be out for the year. However, on Sunday, head coach Niele Ivey said the knee injury won't keep her out for the season. It's not all good news, though, as it's clear she'll be out for a "significant" period of time.
More Notre Dame Fighting Irish news
- Count Marcus Freeman among those who are trying to get Jeremiyah Love to come back to South Bend for one more season. During the Heisman Trophy ceremony, Freeman made a sly allusion to Love possibly coming back. It's a Hail Mary, but it gave Irish fans some hope.
- Xavier Hasan is the latest commitment to the Notre Dame football team. The defensive back is one of the best in the 2027 class. What's more interesting than that is how well Marcus Freeman has done in North Carolina. He's now locked down the top player in the state in three different classes: 2024 EDGE Bryce Young, 2026 EDGE Rodney Dunham, and Hasan in the 2027 class.
- Without Bransford, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish women's basketball was still scrappy enough to win their most recent game. They topped James Madison on Sunday to improve to 8-2 on the season. They've got a little break now, not taking on Bellarmine until December 21.
