The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are leaning on the upcoming Irish Invasion camp to help them make some massive progress with a couple of visiting prospects. Standing out among that group might be 2027 quarterback target Jameson Purcell. Purcell has rocketed up the charts as far as one of the most sought-after gunslingers in the class. The Maine South (Park Ridge, IL) quarterback has been getting a ton of offers from some of the most powerful programs in the country.
The Fighting Irish are among them. He’ll be in town this weekend to get a look at what South Bend and the coaching staff have to offer. Considering the recruiting run Marcus Freeman and his staff have been on the last few months, it seems they stand a very good chance of convincing Purcell that South Bend is where he needs to spend his college days.
Kirby Smart is a pain in the side of Notre Dame Fighting Irish once again
There was a time when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish thought they had locked down Anthony David Jr. once and for all. He went on record saying that the overtures the Georgia Bulldogs were making weren’t moving the needle.
And then suddenly, he decided to visit Athens, Georgia. It’s unclear just how bad this is for Notre Dame. He may be doing the visit as a nod to his father. It’s also possible the Dawgs have convinced him that the SEC power is where he should end up. This recruiting fight is one ot watch closely over the next few weeks.
Marcus Freeman wants one portal window
Speaking to the media earlier this week, Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman discussed a topic that’s the talk of college football these days. That’s how to handle changing the transfer portal so that it’s less of a burden on coaches and still benefits the players. Freeman is on the side of having just one window, and while he’s not locked into a time of year, he’d prefer that window to be in the spring. Unfortunately, it appears he’s in the minority, and the window will actually be in January.
