Marcus Freeman and company have been trending for one of the best defensive edge rushers in the 2026 class for a little while now. Rodney Dunham took a visit to South Bend and absolutely loved what he saw. He loved it so much that more than a few ananlysts immediately put in predictions for the Blue and Gold to land him.
It turns out that it won’t take long for Notre Dame football to find out if those analysts were correct. Dunham is set to commit on April 10. When he does pull the trigger, if it’s for the Irish it would mean that the negative momentum the team has had in the 2026 cycle will jam into reverse. Suddenly Freeman’s squad will be one of the hottest in the country.

Dunham, who is considered both the No. 3 edge rusher and No. 3 player in North Carolina. He’s also the No. 19 player in the entire class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
It’s a safe bet that teams like Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Duke are going to dial the pressure up over the next couple of weeks and try to get him to change his mind on the Notre Dame football program, always assuming that is the way he’s leaning.
