There has been no more frustrating aspect of Notre Dame football’s recruiting in the 2025 class than how much the program has struggled to land one of the top receivers in the cycle. Over and over, it’s looked like they might be able to win a big battle.

Over and over, even when they lost, it looked like they had a chance to get back into the fight. And over and over, it’s looked like they fell short once again. Figuring out exactly why that keeps happening will be a job for the offseason. For now, it appears to have happened again.

There was a time when it looked like the Notre Dame football team could get back in the race for 4-star receiver Derek Meadows. They lost the fight to LSU this summer, but the Tigers have lost their luster. When Michigan jumped back into the race, it seemed like the Irish would as well. Unfortunately, it looks like the Blue and Gold pulled a metaphorically hamstring and stopped running.

Notre Dame football out of the running for wide receiver prospect … again

While the Wolverines are still considered one of the top teams in the running for Meadows, it looks like the Alabama Crimson Tide has become the other front-runner. In one update after another, the Irish aren’t even mentioned.

Perhaps that’s not all that surprising considering how things have gone elsewhere. It’s still incredibly frustrating that Notre Dame football isn’t able to find better success than what it has with wide receiver recruiting.
