While the Notre Dame football team prepares for the Stanford Cardinal, Marcus Freeman and company is looking to pull a recruit in from another rivals’ back yard. In other words, the Irish are looking to beat one rival on the field and another off of it.

2027 athlete Anthony Cartwright might be a ways away from being able to sign with a team. However, there are plenty of power conference teams wanting to get their foot in the door.

Cartwright announced on Twitter earlier this week he’ll be in South Bend to see what Notre Dame football has to offer. He’ll be making the trip from Detroit Country Day school in Franklin, Michigan. During the trip Freeman will be trying to convince him that the Irish are a better pick for his college days than the Michigan Wolverines.

While Notre Dame vs Stanford is not the juiciest matchup, the 6-foot, 4-inch and 198-pound prospect will still get to see everything that the Blue and Gold offer to a student-athlete. Ranked as the No. 61 overall prospect in Cartwright’s class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he already holds offers from Alabama, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, the Wolverines and others.

While there have been plenty of power programs that have given Cartwright offers, the Irish haven’t yet. However, if everything goes well, it would certainly appear that the 2027 star should be returning home with an Irish offer in-hand.

When he does return home, he’ll certainly have plenty to think about. A return trip to Notre Dame football will hopefully be on the agenda.
