After quite a few recruiting losses over the last few weeks, it feels like things are shifting a bit for the Notre Dame football team.

Things are certainly moving in the right direction for the Fighting Irish and 4-star safety Ayden Pouncey. The Winter Park, Florida prospect took an unofficial visit to South Bend over the weekend and Marcus Freeman, Mike Mickens and the rest of the staff officially got their foot in the door.

Pouncey talked to On3 on recently and he made it clear that the Notre Dame football team is officially a candidate for his services: “I like the culture of Notre Dame and how all the players are all focused and locked in on the team," he told Chad Simmons.

Notre Dame football makes a move for Ayden Pouncey

The Fighting Irish have had some history with the Pouncey family. However, they haven’t had a ton of success.

A class of 2017 prospect, Jordan Pouncey actually committed to Notre Dame in June 2016. However, he eventually flipped to Texas and finished his career with Florida. 2020 cornerback Ethan Pouncey got an Irish offer but he ended up going with the Gators as well. He’s still playing, as he transferred to Georgia Southern. 2025 will be his final year of college ball.

It appears as though Florida is once again going to be a key rival in the fight for Ayden Pouncey. Earlier this year he took an unofficial visit to the Gators and made it clear that they are among the favorites.

"It’s going to be hard to say no to them. It’s like a second home. I’ve been here so many times, I think they will definitely be in the final race as one of the top schools."

On the other hand, after his unofficial to South Bend this weekend, he’s said that Notre Dame football is now among his favorites and they could even get themselves an official visit later this summer.
