The Notre Dame football team finally got the boost its been looking for from the AP Top 25 Poll released on Sunday after a big win over Navy, now the team is solidly in the playoff field as it heads to a bye week before a final push.

It's clear that for whatever reason, the AP simply isn't going to give Marcus Freeman's squad a ton of love. It's seen as having a light schedule despite opening the campaign in College Station against Texas A&M.

However, on Sunday, the latest AP seems to finally believe that the Notre Dame football team deserves to be among the best teams in the country. The latest poll saw the Irish jump four spots and they're now ranked No. 8 in the country.

Notre Dame football sees big jump in latest AP Poll

The four spot jump, from No. 12 to No. 8 just happens to be tied for the biggest jump of the week. The team ND is tied with? None other than the Irish's Week 1 opponent in Texas A&M. Thanks to an impressive win over an LSU team that was No. 8 entering the weekend the Aggies jumped from No. 14 to No. 10 in the country.

That jump by the way, now has the Aggies basically replacing LSU as one of the SEC's representatives in the College Football Playoff.

There's another reason why Notre Dame football's leap in the polls is important. Should the season end today and the AP poll was the final word on the playoff seedings, that No. 8 seed would allow the Irish to host a home playoff game.
