While the Notre Dame football team sat and waited to continue its march towards a second straight College Football Playoffs appearance, a former Fighting Irish coach looked like he was nearing the end of his stay at his current school. Brian Kelly, who left South Bend high and dry a few years back for an LSU that never seemed like a fit, is under some serious fire.
Irish fans tried to tell the Bayou Bengals that his reputation as a winning coach came with some serious baggage. That if things didn't go well, he wouldn't handle it with class. Tigers fans didn't want to listen. They're listening now.
Notre Dame fans revel in their former coach’s downfall
While Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame sat and rested and got ready for Boston College next Wednesday, Kelly and LSU were getting demolished by Texas A&M. In the process, the SEC contender wannabe probably guaranteed they won't make the playoffs. Again.

Texas A&M came from behind to beat LSU 49-25 with a dominant second half at Tiger Stadium after LSU led 18-14 at halftime and was outscored 35-7 over the final 30 minutes of the game.
Following their team's latest loss to an SEC opponent, a large group of LSU fans made sure to let Kelly know how they feel about him. Chants of "fire Kelly!" could be heard on the ESPN broadcast as Kelly made his way to the locker room.
What might be even worse for Brian Kelly is that the chants started early. When the Aggies jumped to a 7-0 lead, the displeasure was evident. And once they started up again, it was obvious that the former Irish coach is on a short leash.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame fans enjoyed seeing all the anger at their former head coach while Marcus Freeman once again salvaged the season after a poor start to the year.
There was plenty of panic around South Bend when the Irish started 0-2 after losses to the same Texas A&M squad as well as Miami. However, even with those losses, it's clear Notre Dame fans wouldn't trade the two men.
