Can true freshman Bubba Frazier make an impact on his Notre Dame football team in his first season in South Bend? There are at least a couple of Irish analysts who believe he, in fact, has the best chance of doing just that of any of the true freshman wideouts looking for playing time in 2026.
Tyler Horka and Jack Soble recently spoke as the Irish wound down its spring practice session. The two sang the praises of Frazier and said that if any freshman manages to see real playing time this coming season.
Bubba Frazier has grabbed the eyes of Notre Dame analysts and coaches
"They had Bubba Frazier, who was playing second-team slot receiver," Soble pointed out about last weekend's scrimmage. "They had him playing with the ones, and I think that is significant. If not for this year, then for the future. Like how much of an impression Bubba Frazier has made in these few short months to earn those reps with his speed, with, I think, his versatility."
"I think there's some feeling that Notre Dame, if they use a freshman receiver this year, it will be Bubba Frazier as kind of a gadget guy. Like some some sweeps, reverses uh screens that kind of thing."
Soble went on to say that Frazier likely won't be someone who Notre Dame uses with the full playbook. However, he's shown an ability to stand out. He could be used in very special sets.
Notre Dame football could have a special set for freshman wide receiver Bubba Frazier
"I think some of it is like he's got a unique body type in terms of like he doesn't look like the lengthy tall run by a receiver like he's a little bit more built up it's almost like he has a Jayden Harrison type body type," Horka added.
"Harrison, we know what he was as a return man, and it was really special. But Bubba Frazier just has this, like, offensive look to his game, and he can maybe do some things that other guys on the roster cannot. And that's always going to give you an opportunity to get on the football field."
Notre Dame has a loaded wide receiver room, which is why no true freshman receiver is expected to see much playing time in 2026. It's worth noting that Frazier didn't see much in the way of action in Saturday's Blue-Gold game. He had just one catch for four yards.
Still, it's clear that over the course of spring practice, the Notre Dame coaches gave him plenty of opportunities to shine. At least some Fighting Irish analysts believe Bubba Frazier has more to show once the fall rolls around.
