The Notre Dame football team’s recruiting department has taken some serious hits this offseason. As it turns out, the departure of Chad Bowden was just the start. The Irish are now almost entirely cleaned out from who they had in place a year ago.

Of course, the Blue and Gold are also filling up their recruiting staff. Now that they’ve made Mike Martin’s hire as General Manager official, it’s clear that he’s going to need to get many, many new people in place and he’s going to need to do it quickly.

According to John Brice of FootballScoop, the Notre Dame football team lost another recruiting staffer on Thursday night. This time its Caleb Davis.

Davis is reportedly headed to San Diego State to become the Aztecs’ general manager. For the Irish he was currently serving as the recruiting coordinator.

Like Bowden, Davis almost left the Notre Dame staff last year, but Freeman was able to pull him back and give him a promotion and raise. It appears that other schools still understood that he was a talented staffer but needed more responsibility and pay.

Now that Martin is officially at the helm of the recruiting operations, as well as the department that will almost certainly oversee how money is being doled out, both NIL and revenue sharing, he’s going to have to find some people who want to fill a lot of openings.

The Notre Dame football program is going through some serious changes. Whether they’re for better or worse won’t be seen for a while.
