The Notre Dame football team has it’s quarterback of the future in CJ Carr, Blake Hebert and Noah Grubbs on lock. That’s likely why the Fighting Irish aren’t going to make it a family affair under center.

Tommy Carr, the younger brother of the quarterback who could be starting on Saturdays in South Bend next fall, is a 6-foot, 3-inch and 185-pound 2026 quarterback himself. And while he won’t be a part of the Irish football program, he is keeping playing college football part of a family tradition.

On Friday morning Tommy committed to the Miami RedHawks. The younger Carr isn’t quite the prospect that his brother is, as he’s ranked as the nation’s No. 575 overall prospect and No. 36 quarterback according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. However, he did have quite a few offers from MAC schools and he has garnered one Power 4 conference offer from the Iowa State Cyclones.

While the Redhawks did play the Irish in 2024, at the current moment, the two programs are not scheduled to face off in future seasons that would pit the two Carr brothers against one another.

It will be interesting to see how the two Carr brothers develop as their careers advance.

In this day and age, it’s unlikely that the two brothers will spend their entire careers at one school. Perhaps Tommy can show the bigger schools what he has to offer and end up at a P4 school. Obviously, the Notre Dame football program would like to make sure that CJ Carr sticks around.
