The Notre Dame football team is on a recruiting heater. It looks like that heater will continue well into July and the commitment of defensive lineman Elijah Golden could be the capper on one heck of a summer before fall camp begins.

On Sunday, Golden announced when he will be committing. He’ll be doing so right before the Irish start really prepping for the 2025 season. As an added bonus, it continues to look like Marcus Freeman and his staff are the frontrunners to land him when he does give his pledge.

Four-star DL Elijah Golden targets July 26 decision with Notre Dame out front

Golden will be picking his college team on July 26 and when he does, his finalists will be the Notre Dame football team, Alabama, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. The Hokies are certainly a surprising addition to the list, and there are some who would think that might be a bad sign. But the Irish look like they’re locked in to get the commit.

Golden took an official visit to Virginia Tech on May 30th and has also taken official visits to Alabama, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma.

On3’s MIke Singer is just the latest recruiting analyst who believes that when Golden pulls the trigger on a commitment it will be for the Irish.

That’s not a total surprise considering all the other analysts who believe that the defensive line prospect from Cardinal Mooney will end up in South Bend. However, it’s a big win for the Notre Dame football team should they get the big win. Considering they’ve already got a great class, he would be the cherry on the cupcake.
