The Notre Dame football team might have just seen a wide receiver transfer target fall in its lap. The Irish may not need another wide receiver, the way the guys who are in camp are said to be progressing. However, it’s never wise to completely ignore the misfortunes of a rival school if it can benefit the Blue and Gold.
That’s especially the case when managing to land former Stanford wideout Emmett Mosley, could also play a part in landing his very talented, highly rated younger brother. That younger brother, Trent Mosley is one of the top receivers in the 2026 class.
Emmett recently entered the transfer portal after Stanford fired head coach Troy Taylor. With him comes 48 catches for 525 yards and 6 touchdowns in his freshman season. Those numbers should be enough to convince the Notre Dame football team that he’s worth at least testing the waters.
Emmett Mosley transfer could open door for Notre Dame football
Emmett, like his brother Trent is a bit of a legacy target considering that both his mother and his father went to college in South Bend. Both were decorated athletes, as his father, Emmett Mosley IV and his mother is women's soccer standout Cindy Mosley.
The former Cardinal was recruited heavily out of high school by Marcus Freeman and company. However, he fits into the bigger narrative of the school truly struggling in landing wide receiver targets.
Certainly, the Notre Dame football team likely feels as though its wide receiver corps is set with the players who are currently in camp. But if Freemand and his staff can land someone who was as big an impact player in his first year on campus, they have to at least entertain the notion.
That he could lead to, or at least serve as a weapon in landing another 4-star receiver is an added bonus. Expect the Irish to go after him, even if he’s not at the top of their priorities this spring.
