Notre Dame football emerges as front-runner for top 2026 legacy wide receiver
Notre Dame football’s receiver recruiting is having some real problems. At least when it comes to the 2025 recruiting class, however, it looks like things are turning around when it comes to the 2026 cycle.
The Irish have weirdly had a problem locking down several of their uncommitted targets over the last few months. Perhaps it’s all about just moving on from the 2025 class and focusing more on the future. Hit a bit of a reset and just be happy with what they’ve got for the upcoming signing day.
If they have hit reset, it looks like it has worked for legacy prospect Trent Mosley. At least one analyst believes the Notre Dame football team is in the lead for the talented 2026 wide receiver prospect. That despite the fact that Marcus Freeman and company lost out on Trent’s brother in the 2024 cycle.

“I believe the Irish will eventually land 2026 four-star WR Trent Mosley,” Mike Singer wrote on Twitter earlier this week. “The son of ex-ND RB/WR Emmett Mosley IV and women's soccer standout Cindy Mosley.”
It certainly doesn’t hurt that he is a legacy prospect, even if it wasn’t the end-all and be-all for his bro.
Moseley’s dad played running back and receiver for the Irish from 1993-1996, recording 1,030 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns during his career. His mother, Cindy, was a top soccer player during the same period. The midfielder won the 1996 Hermann Trophy, the award given to the top collegiate soccer player in the country and scored a record-setting 61 goals for the Blue and Gold.
While Mosley’s brother ended up at hated rival, Stanford, it’s clear that the younger brother has been far more into Notre Dame football. The question now is just when the 2026 prospect will eventually pull the trigger. And then, can the Golden Domers keep him in the fold in a way they haven’t been able to do with other wide receiver prospects the last few months.
