The Notre Dame football team is looking to add a quarterback of the future to its red-hot recruiting run. Marcus Freeman and his staff are hosting one of the best quarterbacks in the 2027 cycle in Hank Hendrix.

One reason why this player’s visit next week stands out is not just because he’s got a ton of talent, but because the state of Arkansas isn’t usually a hot bed of Fighting Irish talent. It looks like the recent success, especially at quarterback has made the staff go outside their comfort zone.

Notre Dame football to host top 2027 QB Hank Hendrix on key early recruiting visit

Hendrix is set to visit on May 21 and will be taking in South Bend for the first time. In doing so, the Notre Dame football team will be going after the top player in the state of Arkansas and the No. 19 quarterback in the class, according to On3’s Industry Rankings.

The 6-foot-2, 165 quarterback needs to put a little meat on his bones before he gets to college, but he’s already putting up massive numbers. He was his District Player of the Year, completing 70% of his passes for 4,237 yards and 40 touchdowns.

Reports are that Notre Dame quarterback coach Gino Guidugli has been keeping an especially close eye on Hendrix and believes that a push for the talented gunslinger might help the Fighting Irish move up his interest chart.

So far, the quarterback doesn’t have a ton of Power 4 offers. Arkansas and Texas Tech are the early leaders in the clubhouse. But there’s plenty of time for Marcus Freeman and his staff to make a real push.

The visit on Wednesday is the opening salvo in what is going to be a long battle for the talented signal-caller. He’ll likely get more attention this high school season. But Notre Dame football will have a foot in the door.
