Notre Dame Football takes huge leap after a chaotic Week 13

Seven ranked teams fall in week 13 and that causes Notre Dame Football to make an argument to be the six seed in this week's rankings.

Entering Saturday, Notre Dame Football was ranked as the eighth seed, projecting to face Alabama in South Bend, but after Saturday's slate of games, the Irish have a great chance to be the sixth seed in Tuesday's rankings after they are released.

Week 13 was filled with upsets all over the slate and caused chaos for College Football fans. Seven ranked teams fell on Saturday including two sec teams that will almost eliminate them from the playoffs. In the most recent playoff rankings, the Irish would have hosted the Alabama Crimson Tide, but the Tide traveled to Norman and got thrashed by Oklahoma and lost 24-3. Ole Miss also went to Gainesville and lost 24-17 to the Florida Gators, which makes the Rebels have two bad losses as they lost to Kentucky early in the season.

Also on the slate, the Indiana Hoosiers picked up their first loss of the season as they couldn’t compete with Ohio State and lost 38-15. The Big 12 saw chaos like I projected, as BYU and Colorado fell on the road and now Arizona State and Iowa State are controlling their destinies to the Big 12 Championship.

Texas A&M lost in 4OT at Auburn but still controls their destiny, due to Alabama and Ole Miss' shocking losses. The winner of the renewed rivalry of the Aggies and the Longhorns will face Georgia in the SEC championship game. Irish fans should keep their eyes on this one next week as an Aggie win would be a huge resume boost for Notre Dame.

What Notre Dame Football Fans Can Expect for Tuesday Rankings

When you look at the playoff bracket last week there were arguments for five SEC schools, but after chaos this week the SEC will most likely only see three teams make it. Irish fans should be ecstatic that this is the case as Notre Dame now will most likely host a home playoff game against SMU, Indiana or the Big 12 winner rather than Georgia or Alabama.

The Irish will jump at least one seed to the seven seed after the Hoosiers lost by 23 to Ohio State , but I think the Irish could possibly jump Penn State after the Nittany Lions just squeaked by a six win team in Minnesota.

The Irish have a strong case to move up to the six seed which then they would most likely face SMU.

No. 11 SMU Mustangs at No. 6. Notre Dame Football

No. 10 Indiana Hoosier at No. 7. Penn State Nittany Lions
