Fresh off celebrations over the Notre Dame football team's landing a running back commit earlier this week, it looks like the Irish might be about to give Lathan Whisenton a future backfield mate. 4-star running back out of Springfield Central (Springfield, MA) Isaiah Rogers is now expected to commit to ND according to several recruiting analysts.
Rogers returned to South Bend last weekend for the first time in over a year. This visit was intended to give him a more complete feel for the program. Just after that visit he told Irish Sports Daily that he came away with a clearer picture of where he stands with Marcus Freeman and Co. and where they stand with him.
“Great coaches, great people,” Rogers said about the Notre Dame staff, especially running backs coach Ja'Jaun Seider. “Coach Seider's resume speaks for itself. He has four backs going to The League right now. Just sitting in the meeting room and talking to him, he's a great, great teacher. He's going to develop you on and off the field. He's a great mentor as well.”
Notre Dame football trending for Isaiah Rogers after strong visit with Marcus Freeman
He apparently wasn't kidding about his respect for Seider. On Friday Rivals' Vice President of Recruiting and Transfer Portal Steve Wiltfong put in an official prediction for Isaiah Rogers to pull the trigger on a commit to the Fighting Irish.
Rogers is one of the best players in the 2027 cycle. He's considered the No. 10 running back, No. 2 player in the state of Massachusetts and No. 197 player in his class according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. The 247Sports composite has him as the No. 15 running back, the No. 2 player in the state and No. 237 player in the class.
Last season, the running back finished his 10-game junior season with 126 carries for 986 yards (7.8 YPC) and 15 TD while also catching 37 passes for 401 yards (10.8 YPC) and 3 TD.
Should the Notre Dame football team lock down a commitment from Isaiah Rogers, it would be another big win for a 2027 recruiting class that is already among the best in the country.
