When Isaiah Rogers pulled the trigger on his commitment to the Notre Dame football team, Irish coaches and fans were understandably excited. The 4-star running back out of Massachusetts is a top talent in the 2027 class. He’s got speed and toughness, as evidenced by ND getting into a recruiting battle with some of the best teams in the country for him. Building on that, Rogers’ coach recently laid out some very specific reasons why Marcus Freeman and Co. got a big win on Monday.
Springfield Central High School head coach Bill Watson recently told Irish Sports Daily that the 5-foot-11, 210-pounder’s combination of speed and power was evident from an early age.
“He was physical like that as a freshman,” Watson said about Notre Dame’s latest running back commit. “We didn’t really plan on playing him early, but he forced us to.”

“He did it by the way he practiced every day and how effective he was,” Watson added. “He forced his way onto the field and never looked back.”
Rogers’ head coach also noted that the running back is in the same vein as Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, even if he hasn’t hit their stature.
“He’s a physical kid, explosive. He can catch the ball out of the backfield, he’s good in protection and obviously, he can run with the football. He can hurt teams in a lot of different ways. Sometimes he’s patient through the hole and finds it, and sometimes he’s hitting it full speed and running through defenders. At the next level, it’s about continuing to grow with that and making quicker decisions because everything speeds up.”
Notre Dame got itself a good one in Isaiah Rogers, and even with another running back in the class, this young man could show up big at the next level quickly.
