Jadarian Price is learning that navigating the rigorous schedule of an NFL season isn't as easy as it looked at first. In fact, the former Notre Dame football star had his rookie season put on hold earlier this week when he was placed on the IR with a chest injury.
The Seahawks announced that Price has been placed on IR, where he will miss at least four weeks. That stay began just before Seattle defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 30-23 on Sunday afternoon, improving to 3-1 on the young season.
Price suffered the injury in his Week 2 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals and former Notre Dame teammate Jeremiyah Love. The injury, which he then aggravated in Practice last week, might explain why he had just 5 carries for 15 yards and 1 catch for 7 yards in the team's Week 3 loss to the Washington Commanders.
"By no means is this JD's fault or anything like that," Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald said last week. "This is just what happens in football. Unfortunately, injuries happen. He can't control these things. He's done everything we've asked him to do since he got here. He's had a great attitude. He's been a great teammate. He has a great future. He's going to play great football for us when he comes back, whenever that is ... It's just unfortunate."

McDonald had to explain the injury the way he did because injuries haven't been the only thing that Price has struggled with in his rookie campaign. He started all three of Seattle's first three games, but he was briefly benched against the Commanders after he fumbled for the second fumble in as many weeks.
Price's newfound fumble problems may stem from his chest injury, since he'd never really had trouble holding onto the ball before. In fact, during his days at Notre Dame, he had just 5 total fumbles and 4 fumbles lost from 2023 to 2025.
Over in Arizona, Price's former teammate, Jeremiyah Love, is also learning that a season in the NFL is quite a bit different than it was at Notre Dame. On Sunday, after Arizona caught flak for not putting the running back into the lineup in a failed attempt to march towards a go-ahead score, Love tried to shield his coaches, saying he understood why they were safeguarding his playing time:
"You know, it's just the whole thing. It's been a long year for me. Like, body sometimes is down. My body is sometimes tired. So, like, it's just managing those things. And coaches know that. Like, this is probably going to be the longest year of my life, you know. And I just want to manage that workload."
If Jadarian Price recovers quickly, the former Notre Dame star could return to the Seahawks just ahead of their November 2 game against the Chicago Bears.
