Notre Dame football fans might focus on wins and losses on the field, but rest assured, the Fighting Irish staff is also focused on landing some of the best recruits out there. It looks like they are very, very close to reeling in Jeremiah Figaro, one of the best players in the 2028 class.
Over the weekend, On3 analyst Steve Wiltfong entered a couple of predictions on players who are now heavily leaning towards the Fighting Irish. Offensive lineman Wyatt VanBoening was the first. Figaro was the second. Now it’s a matter of sitting back and waiting to see when the 4-star prospects will pull the trigger.
Figaro is a four-star EDGE prospect in the 2028 recruiting class. The 6-foot-4½, 205-pound defender plays for Dexter Southfield School in Brookline, Massachusetts, after transferring from Malden Catholic. The Notre Dame target is interesting for several reasons, not least because Figaro reclassified from the 2027 class to the 2028 class. He also shifted his focus from the offensive side of the ball as a wide receiver and tight end to the defensive side as an edge rusher.
Figaro is ranked the No. 229 player in the 2028 class, the No. 23 player at his EDGE position, and the No. 4 player in Massachusetts, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.

Notre Dame is far from the only school trying to land the defender. Figaro has amassed more than 30 scholarship offers. His known offer list includes Boston College, Colorado State, East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Penn State, Rutgers, South Florida, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas Tech, UCF, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin, among others.
Figaro visited South Bend to watch Notre Dame take on the Rice Owls. The defender certainly got a close-up look at how dominant Chris Ash’s unit can be when it’s on task.
According to Wiltfong, what Figaro saw from Notre Dame has clearly affected him. Now it’s just a waiting game to see if and when Jeremiah Figaro pulls the commitment trigger.
