Jeremiyah Love won't be in the NFL Draft beyond Thursday night. The Notre Dame football star has long been considered a Top 10 pick with a floor that doesn't go much below the Washington Commanders at No. 7 overall. However, the running back's ceiling might be higher than most expected, as Adam Schefter thinks Love could go as early as the No. 3 pick to the Arizona Cardinals.
Schefter included Love in his latest ESPN column detailing rumblings about the NFL Draft. The analyst said there's a lot of love ... for Love from all over the league. Analysts consider him the top player in the draft, and the only reason he's not the No. 1 overall pick is the devaluation of running backs in this era.
Jeremiyah Love keeps moving up the draft with a new ceiling
Jeremiyah Love going in the Top 5 of the 2026 NFL Draft would already be the first time a running back was taken that early since Saquon Barkley went No. 2 in 2018. Not that it looks like he'll be moving even closer to the former Penn State do-it-all-back. The former Notre Dame player's star power is reportedly prompting Arizona to consider selecting him, even though other needs are thought to be higher on their priority list.
"There is growing chatter in league circles that Love is truly in play at the high end of that range with Arizona," Schefter wrote. "Ideally, the Cardinals would like to find a team willing to trade up so they can acquire more picks, and there have already been 'exploratory' calls, as one source described it, regarding the No. 3 selection."
Notre Dame football star could somehow still pull off a Draft Day upset
"But if the Cardinals hold on to their pick," Schefter added. "Some around the league believe they could pull an early draft surprise and select Love in a slot slightly higher than he has been projected to go."
The ESPN Draft analyst made it clear he can't imagine seeing the Notre Dame star go any lower than No. 7 and the Commanders. Washington wants a stud running back to go with its talented young quarterback, and Jeremiyah Love certainly fits that bill.
