Jeremiyah Love has the chance to put up one of the most impressive seasons for a running back that Notre Dame football fans have ever seen. He's got a chance to win the Heisman. He might be the frontrunner, as a matter of fact. But all the star running back wants to do is make sure his team is as successful as possible.
Love recently talked to Irish Illustrated about the pre-season hype surrounding him after a breakout 2024 campaign. In that talk, he offered up one quote that should make Irish fans quite happy. He made it clear that winning the Heisman would be great, but winning the National Title is what he's aiming for in 2025.
"I'm really focused on how I can help my team, how I can better myself as an athlete," the Notre Dame football star reportedly said. "If that ends up with me winning the Heisman, that's great, but that's not really my priority."

Those kinds of words are music to Notre Dame fans' ears. They're the kind of thing that can further ingratiate a great player to his fan base. Coming from Jeremiyah Love, it also comes off as extremely authentic.
Some players say that sort of thing, and it comes off as a rehearsed answer they know people want to hear. But Love has always come off as someone who is team first. He's also someone who knows he's going to share time with an incredibly talented backfield.
He knows that shared time will deliver some body blows to his ability to win the Heisman. And yet, he's still here, in an era when a lesser player might decide to leave the Notre Dame football team and go somewhere where he'll get 95% of the snaps. The quote is nice. The man behind it is easy to like and root for, both as he leads the team to a National Title and for his Heisman hopes.
