The closer the NFL Draft draws, the more teams are sold on Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love. The first mock drafts this year had the running back going as late as the 20s. Now, he's starting to break the Top 5 consistently. One of the most recent Mocks has the former Fighting Irish star going as high as No. 5 and landing in Gotham to play for the New York Giants.

According to Walter Football's Charlie Campbell, the Giants could take either Love, Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese, or Ohio State safety Caleb Downs. It will mostly depend on which player will still be available and what position new head coach John Harbaugh believes is the biggest need for his New York squad.

"It’s not a need pick. It's a best player pick, because you’re going for the guy that's going to be that kind of a player — you're talking about a guy that you would like to see one day wearing a gold jacket," Harbaugh recently said on the Mike Francesca podcast.

Notre Dame football running back Jeremiyah Love projected to Giants at No. 5

Considering that the Giants' leading rusher last year was Tyrone Tracy with just 740 yards and 4.1 YPC, it's clear New York would love to have a game-changer at running back like Love. If there's one player who might stand in the way of the former Notre Dame star going to Gotham, it's Cam Skattebo.

The Giants took the ex-Arizona State star in last year's draft, and he did impress before getting injured. Harbaugh might look at giving him a chance to be "the man" in 2026.

Or Harbaugh might see Skattebo's injury paired with Love sharing time at Notre Dame as the perfect 1-2 punch for his offense. The former Ravens head coach usually put together a strong running game in Baltimore. Jeremiyah Love being available at No. 5 might be too attractive to pass up in the 2026 NFL Draft.
