Notre Dame football legacy heads to the Alabama Crimson Tide
The Notre Dame football team never really came calling for one of their legacy prospects. They might regret that after tight end Marshall Pritchett announced on Tuesday that he’d committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Pritchett had been a commit to the North Carolina Tarheels before flipping to the SEC power. In hindsight, it might have actually been worse if the tight end had managed to face off against the Fighting Irish for the ACC rival.
The bottom line is that Pritchett’s commitment to another school, and the lack of an offer from Notre Dame football won’t haunt the program most likely. Tight End U has plenty of talent at the position and can land mich higher prospects. However, this is a player that it wouldn’t have hurt to go after at some point.
Notre Dame football legacy prospect Marshall Pritchett heads to Alabama
Pritchett is a 4-star prospect according to 247Sports and is the No. 15 tight end in the 2025 class. That is seemingly good enough to get an Irish offer. The fact that his father was an All-American on the team’s last national title makes it a little more surprising that he didn’t really get recruited at all by Marcus Freeman and company.
Not long after the commitment flip, Marshall’s father Wes Pritchett took to social media to cheer on his son.
“I am very proud of you Marshall!!” He wrote on Twitter. “You have worked hard to get here. Keep up the focus and effort!! Roll Tide!”
It would certainly be interesting to be a fly on the wall in the Notre Dame football offices to see what they think about this kind of player getting so little attention from its staff.
