When Elijah Burress committed to the Notre Dame football team back in February, there was very little doubt that the Irish were getting themselves a very talented player. Even if he was a bit under the radar, it’s hard to bet against an NFL legacy prospect.

On Friday night, Burress demonstrated just how talented a player they got.

The wide receiver, who is rated as a 3-star prospect and the No. 13 recruit in the state of New Jersey laced them up for Depaul Catholic and absolutely put on a show. It was the kind of show that made it clear that Notre Dame football is getting someone who can make plays at the next level.

Burress’s squad was taking on No. 11 Pope John Friday night. It appears that Burress, whose school is the second ranked team in the state, wanted to make sure he made a statement in the Top 15 tilt. He did so by scoring three touchdowns.

A couple were blown coverages where Burress was wide open but his first score of the night was a diving catch that showcased his speed, athleticism and playmaking ability. You can check out the highlights above.

Elijah Burress, whose father is former NFL star Plaxico Burress looks like he might indeed have the same kind of playmaking ability that earned his dad so many accolades. It will be interesting to see how the Notre Dame football commit plays the rest of his final high school campaign.
