As the Notre Dame football team's recruiting ramps up for the 2027 cycle, the Irish are hosting all kinds of players. One of those players, Louis Esposito, is already committed to the Michigan Wolverines but is starting to look and see if the grass might be greener elsewhere.

According to Rivals analyst Allen Trieu, Esposito visited South Bend on Saturday as he starts to see whether one of Michigan's oldest and most hated rivals might be a better fit. Now that Marcus Freeman and his crew managed to get the offensive lineman out of Saline, Michigan to town, the next step will be getting him to take an official visit and keep prying the door to a decommit open.

Getting Louis Esposito to campus was a big first step, but Notre Dame still has its work cut out for it. Rumblings are that despite looking elsewhere, the lineman expects to spend quite a bit of time this spring with the Wolverines. He's also being pursued by other Power 4 programs like Penn State.

Louis Esposito visit gives Notre Dame football a chance to flip a Michigan offensive line commit

Esposito is a 3-star prospect according to both the Rivals Industry Rankings and the 247Sports Composite. Rivals has the highest opinion of the interior offensive lineman of the two services, ranking him the No. 19 player in Michigan, and the No. 17 IOL in the class.

While his ranking isn't all that impressive, it's clear there are plenty of big schools that believe he can play and play well at the next level.

As Louis Esposito is still a Michigan commit, this battle is in the early stages. Still, Notre Dame believes he's someone worth starting a recruiting war over as it looks for a flip from an old rival.
